Why a record may take longer to appear
If the person is not in either system they may still be in booking, may have been taken to a hospital first, or may have been arrested in a neighboring county. Check again in an hour, or call us and we will find out.
What the Mecklenburg County jail record means
- Charges. Listed by statute or short description. One arrest can produce several lines.
- Bond type and amount. "Secured" with a dollar figure means a bail bond is needed. "Unsecured" or "written promise" means release without paying. "No bond" or "hold" usually means a judge must act first, standard on domestic violence charges (up to 48 hours) and probation violations.
- Court date. The first scheduled appearance.
- Agency. Which police department made the arrest.
