The truth behind the ads

About "cheap," "no money down" and "1 percent" bail bonds

Cheap bondsman.

Every licensed bondsman is limited to the same 15 percent. Nobody can legally charge less than the premium they file, and nobody legally charges more. What varies is the down payment and whether fees are added. Champion competes on both: as little as 3% down on select bonds, and no added fees.

No money down

Rare and usually conditional. Most companies that advertise it require collateral or a large first installment within days. We will tell you plainly what your down payment is.

1 percent bail bonds.

This usually refers to the down payment, not the premium. A "1 percent" offer on a $10,000 bond means $100 down against a $1,500 premium, with the balance due on a schedule. Ask what the schedule is before agreeing to anything, from us or anyone else.

Large bonds

Collateral: when it is needed and what counts

Most bonds under a few thousand dollars need a co-signer and a payment plan, nothing more. Larger bonds may need collateral, which is security the bondsman can claim only if the defendant skips court and the bond is forfeited.

Common collateral: a vehicle title, real estate, or cash held in trust. We return collateral when the case ends and the bond is released. felony and large bail bonds

We explain this in plain terms before anyone signs, and we send court reminders so it never comes to that. what happens after a missed court date.
