How to become a bail bondsman in North Carolina
Qualify
Be at least 21, a North Carolina resident, and meet the character requirements, including a background check.
Train
Complete the required pre-licensing education course from an approved provider.
Test
Pass the state licensing examination.
Apply
Apply to the Department of Insurance with the required fees and, for surety bondsmen, an appointment from a licensed surety company.
Maintain
Complete continuing education each year to keep the licence.
